Shear Connector Welding

Shear Connectors

What are Shear Connectors?

Shear connectors, sometimes known generically as Concrete Anchors or Nelson Studs, are used in Steel-Concrete composite structures. They act as reinforcing anchors, locking the supporting structure to the concrete floor. Generally used in combination with permanent steel formwork such as Bondek, Kingflor, Condek or Revflor, in structures such Rail and Pedestrian Bridges, Multi-Storey Car Parks and Offices towers, Mezzanine Offices, Commercial and Industrial Buildings. Other uses include embedment items, such as Steel plates, Rails, Post sockets, and many more.

We supply two categories of shear connectors as per AS 1554.2.

Concrete Anchors

These have a Minimum Tensile Strength of 380 MPa. They are generally the smaller sizes (up to 5/8” or 16mm Nominal).

Shear Connectors

These have a Minimum Tensile Strength of 410 MPa. They are generally the larger sizes (3⁄4” or 19mm Nominal, and 7/8” or 22mm Nominal and 1” or 25mm Nominal.
